We have lots of updates to share with you. Here are some highlights with more detail below.

Welcome Head Coach Jack Gibson

Head Coach Jack Gibson is a former Division I swimmer from the University of Delaware, bringing a wealth of experience and passion back to the NVSL. A Fairfax Station native, he attended Sangster Elementary and Lake Braddock Secondary, where he built an impressive swimming career.

Starting at Old Keene Mill at age four, he swam for Machine Aquatics and Lake Braddock Swim and Dive, eventually becoming a team captain for the Bruins. He concluded his high school career as a multi-time state finalist and still holds a school record as part of the 200 Medley Relay team. At the University of Delaware, he competed all four years, finishing in the top five in program history for the 200 Breast and 400 IM.

His coaching career includes leading Delaware's Lane Swim Club to an 11-4 record over three years, finishing as league runners-up in his final season, and serving as head coach for Saint Stephens & Saint Agnes Middle School’s Swim Team this past winter. Coach Jack is thrilled to lead the Seahawks and is eager to see what the team can achieve this season!

Coaching Applications Due Tuesday, April 1
We are accepting applications for lane coaches, volunteer coaches, one Assistant Head Coach, and one Juniors Head Coach. In addition, we are offering a new opportunity this season for lane coaches to also work as paid Social Committee Assistants, helping parent volunteers plan and execute social events for the team (e.g., pep rallies, movie night, etc). The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 1.

Registration Opens Tuesday, April 1
Registration for the 2025 South Run Seahawks swim season starts on Tuesday, April 1. The Seahawks are open to all community members between the ages of 4 and 18. Visit the team’s website at www.southrunswim.com for information about the team and how to register. Note: the team will be switching software from Team Unify to Swimtopia this season. More information about this transition will be shared closer to the start of the season.

The fee for the first swimmer is $250; the second swimmer is $230; the third swimmer is $210; and each additional swimmer is $190.

Swimmers who register by Monday, April 28 will get the team t-shirt as part of their registration. Email Dina Van Vuren at [email protected] by April 29 with any changes to t-shirt sizes. T-shirts won't be included in the registration for any registrations received after April 28, but they can be purchased from the spirit wear shop.

Team Swim Caps and Merchandise
Check out the online Seahawks spirit wear shop for some great apparel items for swimmers and parents, such as swim bags, polo shirts, hats, etc.! The deadline to order Seahawks merchandise from the online store is Tuesday, May 6. Please note the earlier deadline of Tuesday, April 29 to order silicone caps. We will use the same team suit as last season.

Opening Meeting Thursday, May 22
Mark your calendar! The Seahawks Opening Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 22 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the pool pavilion. Please join us to meet our new head coach, Jack Gibson, and learn all about our plans for the summer. Swimmers can meet at the pool pavilion, then head with their coaches to Pond Point Park for some fun activities.

2025 Seahawks Tentative Practice and Meet Schedule
The Seahawks will be in Division 7 this summer, along with Hunter Mill (Vienna), Dunn Loring (Vienna), Sleepy Hollow Bath (Falls Church), Canterbury Woods (Annandale), and Waynewood (Alexandria).

After school practice will run from Tuesday, May 27 through Wednesday, June 11. There’s no after school practice for Juniors/Advanced Juniors. Morning practice will begin Thursday, June 12 through Friday, July 18. The full schedule is available online.

The tentative meet schedule is listed below. Note: The Monday night meet schedule is not finalized yet.
